Globe of Blogs ::: FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

  1. Who runs this thing?
Just me, but I wouldn't be anywhere without the talented J.M. Dodd on the backend.

  2. Why did you create this?
When Globe of Blogs launched on February 1, 2002, there were no other weblog directories online; Globe of Blogs was also the first weblog directory to list by location, author name, birthday, and topic.

  3. What's a weblog?
A weblog is a website with content that is updated on a regular basis, usually with several entries on one page. The author records thoughts, events and daily minutiae for others to read.

  4. Who can be listed?
    Anyone with a weblog.

  5. Do I need to link back?
A link back to Globe of Blogs isn't required to be listed, but it's always appreciated. Text linking is fine and we have a few buttons (as well as the code needed to add to your weblog) on the main page.

  6. How often is it updated?
New weblogs are added several times a week.

  7. Why don't you delete blogs that haven't been updated in a while?
A blog is a blog, no matter when it was last updated. We believe keeping a blog listed even if it's no longer active could still be useful, ie: maybe someone used to read it but lost track of it. Now they've found it again!

  8. I submitted my weblog a while ago, so why isn't it listed yet?
It's possibly one of several reasons:
    - The site submitted is a .rss or .xml page. Globe of Blogs is not a news aggregator. (If your site has a .rss or .xml feed that's fine, just please don't submit it as your listing.)
    - The site submitted is a commercial site with no weblog content.
    - The site submitted does not contain any weblog content.
    - The site submitted has one or fewer weblog posts.
    - The submission was incomplete -- usually an invalid URL.
    - I just haven't gotten to it yet.

  9. My URL/title/name/description has changed, how do I let you know?
Click on one of the "register" links located on any of the site pages. A pop-up screen will display the registration form to you. The top choice is a drop-down menu. Choose "Update" and re-add your new information as needed.

  10. My weblog no longer exists/I don't want to be listed anymore, how do I get my weblog deleted?
You can either e-mail me (using the "contact" link at the bottom of the sidebar on the right -- make sure you include your weblog title and your first name) or you can choose the "Update" option from the registration page with a note asking to be removed (of course, make sure you include your weblog title).

  11. I have more than one weblog, can I submit them all?
    Yes, please do!

  12. I found a dead link/duplicate listing, how do I let you know?
Please use the "contact" link at the bottom of the sidebar on the right. Make sure you include the weblog title(s) and clarify if it's a duplicate listing or a dead link. And thanks!
